Meet Philip Toussaint – CEO of Ecopreneur Media, Inc.

Philip Toussaint, the CEO of Ecopreneur, Inc.

Combining the power, reach, and influence of the media industry and the push to live more sustainable lives was the reason Going Green got started in the first place, which is why we were so excited to meet Philip Toussaint. We had a chance to sit down with Philip and learn more about his history, his passion, and his goals for himself and his business, Ecopreneur.

Tell us a little bit about you and your background:
I have always had a deep passion and respect for our Earth and everything about it and I have always loved entrepreneurship. Since I was a kid I always sold little things like Pokemon cards to make some money. I am a very outdoors type of guy and love connecting with nature whether it’s going to the beach, taking a hike, walking nature trails or meditating outside. Both of these worlds always meant so much to me! I attended Stonehill College in Easton, MA and graduated with a double major in Business Management and Environmental Studies. This allowed me to combine the best of both worlds and create my own unique career path. While in college, I created the concept of Ecopreneur and have been able to build a meaningful team and brand around the idea of meaningful and ethical media coverage. On social media, people know as the “Ecopreneur.”

What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that I love swimming and have been doing it ever since I could walk.

What was your motivation to get into this industry?
I saw a need for the fight against climate change and providing a meaningful voice to the the organizations that are doing good work and leaving a positive difference regarding environmental issues we face. I witnessed a lack of media coverage on these topics and I wanted to fill that void.

Why do you think climate change/sustainability is such an important topic today?
I think climate change and sustainability are important issues because this sets the ground work for the future of the health of the environment and living species on Earth. It is crucial that we strive for a cleaner and more efficient tomorrow.

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
I envision Ecopreneur leaving a positive and lasting mark wherever it sets foot. We aim for making visible differences and sparking people to take action. The goal is to grow the environmental media industry for people to be able to educate themselves and have fun while doing so. I believe this is just the beginning of this niche disrupting the media industry as a whole.

What can the average person do to make a difference?
It’s always the little things that matter like recycling properly, composting, taking shorter showers, buying second hand clothing, etc. The list goes on! But what we believe at Ecopreneur will spark massive change is incentivized activism. Tackling the issue of “slacktivism” and sparking people to take action within their communities for the better.

What positive changes are you seeing?
The positive changes that I am seeing are that the general public are becoming more aware of the individual impact everyone can have on one arising issue. This helps in the fight against injustice done upon the Earth because one action taken by billions of people makes revolutionary changes. This is a good trend that must be emphasized on and continued.
